We are very proud of our Master Teaching Fellows!  This page is designed to feature our Master Teaching Fellows and the wonderful ways they are practicing the skills being developed throughout the extent of this program.

JOIDES School of Rock 2023

JOIDES School of Rock Expedition 398P logoAlyssa Weisenstein and Angela Zier have been selected to join 10 other STEM educators from around the US on the JOIDES Resolution research vessel for School of Rock 2023 during IODP Expedition 398P in Tarragona, Spain. During the 10 day professional development program, educators will learn how scientists and technicians aboard the JOIDES conduct ocean drilling paleoclimate research to support the International Ocean Discovery Program. The participants will also collaborate to refine and curate the extensive IODP educator resource collection to make them more relevant and accessible for STEM classrooms around the world.

Meteicha Green & April Bartnick

During Earth Week 2021, MTFs Meteicha Green and April Bartnick hosted a week-long celebration at Carruthers Elementary in Murphysboro, IL.  They held activities for students at every grade level with topics centered on energy efficiency and waste reduction.  This project was part of the Illinois Green Schools Project, a statewide program that aims to incorporate green activities in K-12 classrooms.

April Bartnick

With more than 60 submissions to the 2020 Sigma Xi STEM Art and Film Festival, April Bartnick, an SIUC Noyce River Region Master Teaching Fellow, received the Distinguished Recognition Award for her artwork submission entitled: Zoom in on STEAM.  Her students' paintings portray Earth, habitat, the whole plant, and different life cycle stages of the C-fern at the microscopic level. 

Please, join us in congratulating April for winning this prestigious award. We know our program is exemplary and are so proud we were able to share our innovative approaches to learning and teaching science. See one of her student's paintings below:

Lindsay Adams, April Bartnick, and John Casebolt

Lindsay Adams, April Bartnick, and John Casebolt, three Master Teaching Fellows in the SIUC Robert Noyce Teaching Fellowship program, created a video about a water quality unit they designed that can work across grades levels 5-12 for both general and special education populations. They did an amazing job and we are so very proud of them!!
