Summer Research Immersion

The Summer Research Immersion (SRI) is a three-week experience that includes inquiry-based research activities mentored by SIUC researchers and science education experts alongside leadership development training and seminars in communicating science.

From this training, Master Teaching Fellows will develop and implement classroom activities that impart problem-solving, inquiry, and critical thinking skills to their students.

During the Summer Research Immersions, Master Teaching Fellows will also develop sustainability plans specific to their schools, such as conservation of local energy usage.

The three-week commitment for the SRI is for weekdays only and will vary year to year. You will be given adequate notice to make plans.

Each Summer Research Immersion is open to five in-service plus pre-service STEM teachers NOT enrolled in the River Region Master Teaching Fellows Program.  If you are interested in participating, check our Apply page for updates on the application process.
